Director of Warehouse Operations/Fulfillment

Our client, a global leader in targeted, high-impact branded merchandise, is seeking a Director of Warehouse Operations to lead fulfillment operations across Kansas City, MO and Carson, CA. This hands-on executive will oversee day-to-day warehouse performance while building the people, processes, systems, and infrastructure needed to support continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily fulfillment operations across receiving, inventory, picking, packing, kitting, quality control, and shipping.
• Maintain a hands-on leadership presence, ensuring safety, accuracy, productivity, and service standards are consistently met.
• Build and implement scalable SOPs, workflows, operating rhythms, and performance standards across facilities.
• Establish and monitor KPIs related to accuracy, productivity, labor, cost, quality, safety, and service levels.
• Recruit, coach, and develop warehouse leaders and frontline teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, capacity planning, labor utilization, and facility resources to support current and future growth.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow, space utilization, throughput, labor productivity, inventory accuracy, automation, and cost.
• Oversee WMS, ERP, shipping, reporting, and other fulfillment technologies, partnering with internal and external teams on integrations and optimization.
• Partner with Sales and Client Services on client onboarding, program launches, fulfillment solutions, and operational escalations.
• Serve as a senior operational partner to key clients and participate in client presentations, facility tours, and business development discussions as needed.
• Manage carrier strategy, freight, packaging, labor, supplies, budgets, and other operational expenses.
• Provide executive leadership with regular reporting, performance insights, capacity planning, and recommendations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in fulfillment, warehouse, distribution, 3PL, logistics, or related operations, with significant leadership responsibility.
• Proven experience directly leading warehouse or fulfillment operations and driving employee performance.
• Demonstrated success building, scaling, restructuring, or significantly improving operations.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse functions, inventory control, productivity, quality, and safety.
• Experience developing SOPs, KPIs, accountability systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead warehouse managers and frontline teams.
• Strong knowledge of WMS, ERP, operational reporting, integrations, and warehouse technology.
• Strong financial and business acumen, including experience managing labor, freight, budgets, and operating expenses.
• Excellent client, stakeholder, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Experience with client onboarding, program implementation, or customer-facing fulfillment programs preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with VeraCore, Shipstore, OrderDesk, or comparable WMS, shipping, integration, and eCommerce platforms is a plus.
• Ability to travel between fulfillment centers and other locations as needed.
• College degree preferred.
