Entry-Level Staff Accountant

Our client, a well-established organization with a stable and collaborative team, is seeking an Entry-Level Staff Accountant to join its San Francisco office. This role supports the fund accounting function and works closely with the family office and investment teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Accounting graduate looking to build a strong foundation in fund accounting, gain hands-on experience with investments and financial reporting, and grow within a supportive environment.

What You’ll Do
• Coordinate wires and bill payments.
• Monitor cash accounts and track cash activity, including upcoming investments, capital calls, investment proceeds, and fund cash/stock distributions.
• Track investments and maintain accurate investment records and documentation.
• Examine and analyze accounting records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards.
• Prepare monthly financials, quarterly reports, annual financial statements with footnotes, and partner capital statements.
• Assist with carried interest calculations.
• Prepare capital call and distribution letters, including related calculations and allocations.
• Monitor portfolio company activity and assist with annual fair market value (FMV) valuations.
• Maintain investment documents, files, and investor information databases.
• Assist with investor communications, including distribution of K-1s, capital call/distribution letters, and financial reports.
• Assist with investor requests, including taxable income estimates, audit confirmations, and account balance inquiries.
• Support client, LP, and audit requests by gathering and preparing requested information.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
• Support the independent financial audit process, particularly from January through April.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and assist with additional accounting projects as needed.

What We’re Looking For
• Recent graduate with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Up to 1 year of post-graduation experience; candidates with limited professional experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Highly organized with strong follow-through and time-management skills.
• Coachable, curious, and eager to learn new accounting concepts and processes.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
• Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to QuickBooks is preferred.
• Comfortable working with financial documents, reports, and PDFs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in developing a long-term career in fund accounting and investment operations.
