Social Media Video Editor

Our client is looking for a Social Media Video Editor who knows what makes people stop scrolling. As the social Media Video Editor, your job will be to find the best moments within filmed content and turn them into engaging, social-first videos across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms. The ideal candidate will be someone who understands social media beyond just editing. Understanding how to find a strong hook, build a story, keep viewers engaged, and make content feel native to each platform.

This is a Temp to Hire role.
Remote to start but may transition to Hybrid at their office in Orange County
Pay: $40-50/hr

What You’ll Do
• Review long-form videos and identify the moments with the most potential for social to turn those moments into engaging short-form videos.
• Edit content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms.
• Use strong pacing, cuts, captions, graphics, framing, and other editing techniques to keep viewers watching.
• Create different clips and creative approaches from the same source material.
• Adapt content for different platforms rather than simply resizing the same video.
• Help develop new content formats, recurring series, and creative ideas.
• Work efficiently through a large volume of existing and new footage.

What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience editing short-form social media content.
• A portfolio that demonstrates strong social-first video editing.
• Experience working with founders, creators, podcasts, business content, educational content, or thought leadership is a plus.
• A strong instinct for pacing, storytelling, and audience retention.
• Ability to recognize a great moment within long-form content and turn it into a compelling clip.
• Comfortable working independently and making creative decisions without constant direction.
• Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Strong understanding of current social video formats and trends.
