Assistant/Associate Designer
We’re partnering with a leading home furnishings and lifestyle retailer seeking both an Assistant Designer and an Associate Designer to support seasonal product development from initial concept through production. These opportunities are ideal for highly organized, trend-aware designers who enjoy balancing hands-on creative work with cross-functional coordination.
Candidates will be considered at the level that best aligns with their experience.
Key Highlights
Pay: $30-40/hr - commensurate with candidate experience
Location: Downtown San Francisco
Schedule: Hybrid - In Office 4-5 days/week
Type: Contract - potential to extend or convert to full time
What You’ll Do
- Support the design and development of seasonal product assortments based on brand direction, market trends, and business need
- Create product specifications, concept boards, and presentation materials
- Help manage concepts through product development, sampling, revisions, and final approval
- Schedule weekly product development meetings, prepare agendas, and track follow-up items
- Assist with seasonal product presentations for internal teams and senior leadership
- Maintain development updates and product status information within PLM systems
- Track key milestones, deadlines, and seasonal calendar dates
- Communicate design needs and product details to merchants, sourcing partners, vendors, engineers, and color teams
- Review business results and help implement product or assortment changes
- Research fashion, interiors, lifestyle, and competitive market trends to identify new product opportunities
- Identify product development challenges and help drive solutions
- Support workflow improvements across the broader design and development team
