Product Designer, Hardlines & Functional Accessories
We're partnering with a home furnishings retailer to identify a Product Designer with experience designing hardline household accessories & products. This is an execution-focused role supporting the development process from concept through production. You'll work closely with partners to bring beautifully designed, highly functional products to market while ensuring they align with the brand's elevated aesthetic.
This opportunity is ideal for designers who have created hardgoods/home products and enjoy balancing creative design with the day-to-day execution required to move products through development and manufacturing.
HOURLY RATE: $50-53/hr
LOCATION: Downtown San Francisco (on-site daily)
DURATION: 6 months (potential to convert but not guaranteed)
What You'll Be Designing
- Shelving and wall organization
- Window hardware
- Jewelry boxes and organizers
- Storage baskets and bins
- Additional decorative and organizational hardgoods
What You'll Do
- Translate creative briefs into thoughtful, production-ready product concepts.
- Develop sketches, 3D models, and high-quality renderings throughout the design process.
- Create products that balance functionality, quality, and elevated design.
- Ensure designs align with seasonal trends and the overall brand aesthetic.
- Prepare presentation materials, manage design assets, and maintain product documentation.
- Track development through spreadsheets and project management tools.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with merchandising, sourcing, and product development teams.
- Incorporate creative feedback and refine designs throughout the development process.
- Partner with overseas vendors to support development through manufacturing.
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience designing hardline consumer products or home goods.
- Strong product design portfolio demonstrating functional accessories, home décor, storage, organization, furniture accessories, or similar categories.
- Experience taking products from concept through production.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and 3D modeling/rendering software (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, KeyShot, or similar).
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced product development environment.
