Fractional IT Director (Entertainment & Production Infrastructure)

A fast-growing media and entertainment company is seeking a seasoned Fractional IT Director to lead the design, implementation, and documentation of its entire IT and security infrastructure from the ground up.


You'll partner directly with executive leadership to establish the company's technology foundation, implement best-in-class security practices, and hire and mentor an IT Manager who will eventually take ownership of day-to-day operations.


HOURLY RATE: $60-75/hr

LOCATION: West Hollywood, CA (on-site as needed)

DURATION: Contract (approx. 6 months, fluctuating/as needed hours)


What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and documentation of the company's IT and cybersecurity infrastructure from the ground up
  • Establish identity and access management programs, including SSO, MFA, role-based permissions, endpoint protection, and device management policies
  • Build secure onboarding, offboarding, provisioning, and access workflows for both employees and a high-volume freelance workforce
  • Architect cloud, network, and storage environments that support corporate operations, production teams, studios, and remote employees
  • Design and implement secure systems for managing large media files, content storage, asset tracking, local servers, and production equipment
  • Develop security policies, incident response plans, disaster recovery procedures, and business continuity strategies to protect company data and intellectual

  • Implement content security controls and workflows that support production, post-production, and creative teams working with unreleased content and sensitive assets
  • Evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors, MSPs, security platforms, and infrastructure partners
  • Create comprehensive documentation, operational runbooks, and long-term technology roadmaps that support future growth
  • Partner with executive leadership to recruit, hire, train, and mentor an IT Manager who will assume ownership of day-to-day operations following the build phase

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of IT leadership experience with Director, Head of IT, CIO, or CISO-level responsibility
  • Experience building IT and security programs from scratch
  • Entertainment, media, production, agency, or content industry experience
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, identity management, and endpoint management
  • Experience managing media storage, local servers, asset tracking, and production technology environments
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to executive stakeholders and mentor junior IT talent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting production studios, post-production teams, or content organizations
  • Familiarity with content security standards and media industry best practices
  • Live production or event technology experience
  • CISSP, CISM, CCSP, AWS, Azure, or related certifications
