Senior Payroll Manager
Our client, a fast-paced, innovative company headquartered in Austin, is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager to own global payroll operations across the world, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalable processes.
Key responsibilities
• Own end-to-end payroll processing for employees and contractors across the US, Canada, and Europe
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international payroll regulations, including tax filings, withholdings, and statutory requirements
• Process payroll-related benefit deductions including HSA, 401(k) deferrals/matching, and other withholdings
• Manage contractor payment cycles and international contractor compliance (1099s, tax documentation)
• Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies, W-2 corrections, and employee inquiries
• Implement scalable systems and reduce manual risk as the company grows
• Partner with People, Finance, and Legal on compensation, benefits integration, onboarding/offboarding workflows, and HR data integrity
• Support contractor-to-FTE conversions and drive ongoing process improvements
Qualifications
• 5–7 years of payroll experience, with at least 2–4 years managing multi-state and/or international payroll
• Strong knowledge of US federal and state payroll tax regulations, filings, and compliance
• Experience managing vendor and contractor payments, including international contractors
• Experience with global payroll platforms and multi-jurisdictional compliance+ Rippling
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, People, and Legal
• Discretion with sensitive and confidential information
• Background in high-growth or startup environments
• Familiarity with international payroll and statutory requirements
• Equity plan administration experience (Carta or similar)
• CPP or FPC certification
