Data Operations Associate
Asset management and holding company with approximately $70 billion in assets under management is seeking a Data Operations Associate. The Associate plays a vital role in supporting the asset management ecosystem by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data across platforms. This position focuses on maintaining high-quality entity and asset data—covering security master, issuer master, and key reference data—while supporting data onboarding, integration, and reporting processes.
Working closely with Operations, Technology, and Investment teams, this role helps ensure that reliable data flows seamlessly across the organization. This foundation enables effective investment analysis, compliance oversight, portfolio transparency, and timely decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, proficiency with Excel and data tools, and an eagerness to grow expertise in data governance and process optimization within a fast-moving asset management environment.
Key Responsibilities
Master Data & Configuration
-Maintain and validate security master, issuer master, and reference data for investments and investors
-Define and apply configuration rules for new funds, fund hierarchies, and portfolio records
-Identify discrepancies and perform corrective actions to ensure master data accuracy
Data Quality, Controls & Issue Resolution
-Investigate and resolve complex data issues under tight deadlines
-Conduct data checks and implement corrections across master data and data delivery workflows
-Perform controls, respond to inquiries, and mitigate risks related to critical data attributes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-Partner with operations, technology, and investment teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions
-Participate in onboarding activities—identifying and setting up new entities across systems
-Support system integrations and migrations to ensure smooth data transitions
Analytics, Reporting & Tools
-Analyze large data sets and deliver ad hoc reporting as needed
-Support internal teams with reporting, data insights, and analysis to enhance transparency of private market data
-Develop and maintain tools for identifying, classifying, and deduplicating master data elements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Familiarity with private loans, CLOs, private equity, and fixed income instruments preferred
-Exposure to security data models within platforms such as Aladdin, Geneva, Sentry, or FIS is a plus
-Advanced Excel proficiency (including VLOOKUPs, macros, pivot tables)
-Working knowledge of SQL; willingness to expand technical skillset
-Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate business requirements into data solutions
-Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across diverse teams
-Self-driven, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Organizational Sciences, or a related field
-1–3+ years of relevant experience in financial services, asset management, or data management
-Must have experience/familiarity with security master data
Compensation: $135-150K base plus discretionary bonus and competitive benefits
