Compliance & Quality Assurance Coordinator
Our client, an apparel company, is looking for a Quality Assurance Compliance Specialist to join their team in NYC!
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key liaison between factories, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure all apparel products meet brand quality and compliance standards.
- Review product CADs and samples with cross-functional teams to confirm alignment with CPSIA and customer testing requirements.
- Support the onboarding and setup process for new factories and suppliers.
- Monitor factories’ adherence to brand, retailer, and customer requirements for social and environmental compliance, security audits, quality audits, and sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with factories and suppliers to develop corrective action plans and improve compliance performance.
- Oversee required regulatory and performance testing for softline products in coordination with suppliers.
- Review and evaluate testing reports, particularly for children’s apparel, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Manage testing failures and non-compliance issues in partnership with factories, suppliers, and retailers to achieve timely resolution.
- Communicate retailer-specific testing requirements and updates to relevant internal and external partners.
- Maintain accurate documentation and update test status across internal tracking systems.
- Proactively identify and communicate potential quality or compliance issues to cross-functional teams.
- Issue General Conformity Certificates once all necessary passing test reports are received.
- Work with third-party testing laboratories and audit firms to establish and finalize testing protocols, review fees, and manage audit programs.
- Stay informed about sustainability and certification programs such as the Higg Index, GRS, RCS, and GOTS, and support related company initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations and objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in apparel production, product testing, or factory compliance.
- Familiarity with U.S. apparel safety regulations, including CPSC, CPSIA, and California Proposition 65.
- Experience with retailer compliance programs for major accounts such as Walmart, Costco, BJ’s Wholesale, or Cracker Barrel is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of sustainability and certification standards such as Higg Index, GRS, RCS, and GOTS is a plus.
