Director of Culinary - Upscale Restaurant Group

Our client, an upscale restaurant group, is seeking a Director of Culinary to join their team in New York, NY! The successful candidate will provide leadership, vision, and hands-on execution of all culinary operations. This includes overseeing kitchen operations, managing food and labor costs, maintaining vendor relationships, leading culinary team recruitment and training, and upholding quality and consistency in all aspects of high-volume service. In partnership with the Vice President of Operations, this position will oversee the culinary operations of 10+ high-end restaurants and support all new openings as the group doubles their portfolio in the next 3-4 years.

Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of culinary operations, including executing recipes, kitchen systems, and team management.
- Oversee recipe standardization, plating, and food quality to ensure consistency and creativity.
- Manage budgets, food and labor costs, and vendor partnerships.
- Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen leaders and staff to foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Partner closely with operations, beverage, and events teams to create a cohesive guest experience.
- Maintain the highest standards of sanitation, safety, and compliance.

Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of progressive culinary leadership in a similar hospitality setting.
- Proven success managing culinary teams and developing creative, guest-driven menus.
- MUST understand flavor profiles and have a great palate.
- Strong business acumen and cost-control experience
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills within the kitchen.
