Senior Accountant
A leading entertainment studio is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its Corporate Accounting team. In this role, you’ll oversee key accounting and reporting functions, including monthly close activities and quarterly SEC deliverables, while ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries related to film cost accounting, including capitalization of ASC 926 assets and related amortization
- Prepare journal entries for theatrical distribution, fixed assets, accruals, overhead, revenue recognition, and other general accounting areas
- Analyze financial results, explain fluctuations, and provide meaningful reporting to management
- Partner with divisions including TV Accounting, Studios Accounting, Financial Planning, Production Finance, Theatrical Distribution, Participations, and Tax
- Collaborate with IT and automation teams to streamline manual entries and reconciliations, improving the monthly close process
- Review and analyze production reports, including trial balances, bank reconciliations, and cost reports
- Review and analyze theatrical distribution reports, including TDS, advertising accruals, ultimates, and third-party submissions
- Prepare quarterly deliverables, including balance sheet reconciliations and footnote disclosure support
- Review agreements and interpret contractual terms to determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Research technical accounting guidance and draft internal technical memos as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies
