Director of Licensing - Apparel
Our client, an apparel company, is looking for a Director of Licensing to join their team in NYC!
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage forecasts and budgets, including tracking financials, working within licensor-provided templates, and clearly communicating key metrics.
- Lead negotiations for new licensing agreements as well as renewals and contract modifications.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for licensors, handling requests such as placement updates, product development needs, and recurring check-ins.
- Oversee and enforce licensing agreements internally, ensuring sales and production teams operate within approved terms; team members are expected to review and understand contracts within their first month.
- Supervise and support the licensing team, including coordinators and managers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership across Design, Production/Product Development, Sales, Testing, and other departments.
- Maintain a high level of organization and professionalism, with a strong work ethic, a proactive and solutions-driven mindset, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of licensing, ideally within character licensing
- Proven ability to manage multiple licenses simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- Strong understanding of licensing agreements, approval workflows, and compliance standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience managing external licensor relationships.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in Excel and email-driven workflows.
