Product Development Manager - Footwear

Our client, a footwear company, is looking for a Product Development Manager to join their team in NYC!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of athletic footwear development, from concept through production, ensuring timelines, quality, and performance standards are met.
  • Oversee and review development samples, providing detailed feedback and corrections to achieve desired design and fit.
  • Conduct ongoing market research and trend analysis to inform product direction and maintain competitive positioning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, production, and merchandising teams to align on product strategy and execution.
  • Present product concepts, developments, and strategies to internal stakeholders and external partners with clarity and confidence.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in athletic footwear development, with expertise spanning men’s, women’s, and kids’ categories.
  • Proven ability to manage product development from initial concept through final production.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, construction, and fit specific to athletic footwear.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator.
  • Solid understanding of market trends and competitive landscape within the athletic space.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Sketching or hand-rendering ability is a plus.
  • Experience working with performance-driven or athletic brands preferred; exposure to athletic apparel environments is a bonus.
  • Open to candidates with a hybrid background across product creation and development.
