Associate Merchant

Our client, a luxury fashion brand based in NYC, is looking for an Associate Merchant to join their team on a temp basis!

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Manager, Merchandising in the daily management of assigned product categories.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the merchandising team, including reporting, file management, and product sample coordination.
  • Identify business opportunities, mitigate risks, and recommend and track actionable plans to improve performance.
  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies for assigned categories.
  • Participate in annual/biannual buying sessions in Europe.
  • Gather and consolidate product feedback from sales channels to inform assortment planning and strengthen North America’s market positioning.
  • Ensure regional needs are clearly represented to HQ, building strong partnerships and advocating for North America in global discussions.
  • Partner with Planning & Allocation to ensure efficient execution of merchandising strategies.
  • Track and report on product performance through regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly analyses.
  • Support the team in preparing presentations and executive recaps to communicate strategies and results.
  • Build strong partnerships with store teams and corporate functions to foster collaboration.
  • Contribute to regional projects for the AVP, Merchandising Americas

Qualifications

  • 3–4+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, planning, or a related field (luxury retail a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding of retail math and merchandising processes
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
