People Operations Manager

A rapidly scaling, venture-backed AI company—partnering with top-tier financial institutions—is seeking its first dedicated People Operations Manager. With strong product-market fit and accelerating headcount growth, the organization is entering a pivotal stage of expansion.

This is a foundational hire designed for a builder. You will play a critical role in establishing the infrastructure, processes, and systems that will support a growing, high-performing team.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role focused on building and optimizing the People function from the ground up. You will design scalable processes across the employee lifecycle, implement systems that enable growth, and ensure operational excellence across a lean, fast-moving organization.

What You’ll Do

People Infrastructure & Process Design

  • Build and formalize onboarding programs that scale alongside company growth
  • Design and implement structured performance review cycles
  • Develop compensation tracking systems and reporting frameworks
  • Create and maintain headcount planning tools, workforce analytics, and internal trackers
  • Establish clear, auditable workflows for promotions, transfers, and exits
  • Evaluate and optimize HR systems (current environment includes a PEO-based setup)

Compliance & Operations

  • Oversee domestic and international background checks
  • Ensure employment compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Maintain accurate and organized employee records and documentation
  • Partner closely with Finance on payroll inputs and compensation updates
  • Support benefits administration through external vendors

Manager & Team Enablement

  • Act as a trusted resource to managers on performance conversations and best practices
  • Build practical templates, toolkits, and guides to drive consistency
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and internal communications

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Recruiting, and executive leadership on workforce planning
  • Lead key operational initiatives tied to organizational growth
  • Drive special projects that enhance scalability and efficiency

What You Bring

  • 5–10 years of experience in People Operations or HR Operations
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience within a startup or high-growth environment
  • Proven ability to build processes and infrastructure from the ground up
  • Comfort operating independently within a lean team
  • Experience supporting international teams and multi-jurisdiction compliance
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute end-to-end
  • Familiarity with modern HR systems (Rippling or similar preferred)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of discretion
  • Operational mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
