Director of Ecommerce

Our client, a high-end women's contemporary brand, is seeking a Director of Ecommerce to join their team in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Own the eCommerce channel end to end, with full accountability for revenue, margin, and overall P&L performance
  • Define and execute the digital commerce strategy to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and customer lifetime value
  • Establish forecasts and performance reporting across core KPIs including conversion, AOV, CAC, ROAS, traffic mix, and retention
  • Lead the day-to-day and long-term management of the Shopify platform, including feature development, integrations, and site optimization
  • Oversee the broader eCommerce technology ecosystem across CMS, CRM, ERP, ESP, analytics, payments, and third-party tools
  • Ensure site stability, speed, security, and scalability by partnering with internal teams and external vendors
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-driven solutions, to enhance performance and user experience
  • Direct user experience strategy across site architecture, navigation, search, and mobile to deliver a seamless shopping journey
  • Drive CRM strategy, overseeing customer data, lifecycle marketing, and personalized engagement initiatives
  • Partner with Operations, Logistics, and Customer Service to optimize fulfillment, shipping, returns, and post-purchase experience
  • Manage marketplace and third-party platform integrations, improving operational efficiency and system connectivity
  • Lead, mentor, and scale the eCommerce team while managing agency and vendor relationships
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Creative, Merchandising, Operations, and Finance to align channel strategy with product launches and brand initiatives
  • Represent eCommerce leadership in broader business planning, innovation, and growth conversations

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in eCommerce, preferably within fashion or consumer lifestyle brands
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Shopify and Shopify Plus, including app ecosystems and complex integrations
  • Proven ability to manage and grow a digital P&L with strong commercial results
  • Strong technical understanding of eCommerce platforms, web development workflows, and data infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success leading CRM, UX, and customer lifecycle initiatives
  • Solid working knowledge of fulfillment, logistics, and eCommerce operations
  • Highly analytical with proficiency in Google Analytics, BI tools, and advanced Excel
  • Effective people leader with experience managing internal teams, agencies, and technology partners
  • Experience with RLM or comparable ERP systems is a plus
