HR Manager

Our client, a global lifestyle apparel brand, is seeking a Human Resources Manager who will serve as the primary HR contact for all employees based in the New York office. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you will oversee employee relations, performance management, training and development, policy execution, and local compliance. This role functions as a strategic partner to local leadership, helping to cultivate a positive, productive, and compliant workplace environment.

Pay: $100,000–$120,000

On-site 5x a week in Midtown Manhattan


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and resolve complex employee relations matters, conducting thorough, objective investigations.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees on conflict resolution, performance improvement, and disciplinary actions.
  • Administer the company’s performance review process.
  • Support managers in delivering timely feedback, setting goals, and developing growth plans for their teams.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of company policies.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws (with a focus on NY and NJ) to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Partner with the Corporate Talent Acquisition team to support hiring needs for the New York office.
  • Oversee the onboarding experience to ensure a smooth, engaging transition for all new employees.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate or deliver local development programs, including manager training and mandatory compliance education.
  • Manage daily HR operations, including reporting, data accuracy, employee record maintenance, and general HR support for the NY office.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally as an HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist in a standalone role or with limited local HR support.
  • Experience within the fashion or apparel industry strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, with emphasis on New York and New Jersey compliance requirements.
  • Proven success managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Strong analytical thinking and sound judgment in high-stakes situations.
