Design Assistant
Our client, a wholesale apparel brand, is seeking an Assistant Designer to join their team in NYC!
Responsibilities
- Support the design team in executing the full collection from initial concept through final production.
- Create detailed sketches for new and existing styles.
- Assist heavily with tech packs, ensuring all sketches, callouts, and updates remain accurate throughout development.
- Help with CAD work including updating prints, colorways, layouts, and presentation boards.
- Support production approvals, including reviewing trims, fabrics, lab dips, strike-offs, and communicating comments.
- Assist with fits, taking notes during fit sessions and ensuring revisions are clearly passed along to Technical Design and overseas partners.
- Conduct trend research aligned with brand direction.
- Maintain daily communication with overseas factories regarding samples, trims, fabrics, and development needs.
- Keep the showroom organized, updated, and visually merchandised.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an apparel design role.
- Strong CAD and graphic skills; proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent hand and digital sketching abilities.
- Highly organized with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to all stages of the design process.
