Senior Designer - Denim/Wovens
Our client, an apparel company, is looking for a Senior Designer for their Denim/Wovens team to join them in NYC!
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of seasonal denim and woven collections from concept through final production.
- Research and interpret emerging trends, washes, and fabric developments to create compelling and commercially relevant assortments.
- Collaborate closely with merchandising, technical design, and production teams to ensure design integrity, fit consistency, and on-time delivery.
- Develop detailed CAD sketches, tech packs, and wash direction for sampling and production.
- Present concepts, mood boards, and line plans to leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Partner with fabric and wash vendors to innovate on construction, finish, and sustainability opportunities.
- Manage sample development and design approvals, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetic and margin goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- 4+ years of experience designing denim and/or woven apparel within a contemporary or lifestyle brand.
- Strong understanding of fabric construction, washes, finishes, and garment construction.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems.
- Excellent trend forecasting, sketching, and presentation skills.
- Ability to balance creativity with a strong sense of commerciality and brand positioning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional partners and overseas vendors.
