Hospitality Controller
Our client, an upscale restaurant group, is seeking a Controller to join their team in Boston, MA! The ideal candidate will lead all financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and analysis functions across all restaurant locations. This individual will develop actionable insights to drive profitability, streamline operations, and guide decision-making for both corporate and individual units.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Project year-over-year sales and scenario modeling.
- Collaborate with General Managers and the operations team to track and improve key financial performance indicators.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership.
- Analyze profit and loss (P&L) statements for individual restaurants and the overall business.
- Produce intercompany bill-back entries for shared services and costs.
- Audit vendor statements to ensure invoices are up to date.
- Monitor and analyze food, beverage, and labor costs.
- Support and improve inventory management processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies.
- Develop financial models for new store openings and capital investments.
- Evaluate the performance and ROI of promotions and marketing campaigns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA a plus).
- 3–6+ years of relevant finance experience, ideally within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of restaurant unit economics and industry standards.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with QuickBooks or other accounting platforms.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying opportunities and risks.
