Director of Human Resources – Law Firm

A growing mid-size litigation law firm is hiring for an experienced professional to join their team as an HR Director, reporting to the CHRO. This hire will play a critical role within the human resources function in support of the firm’s overall vision and business plan.

Salary range is commensurate with experience in the $200-250k base range + discretionary bonus and excellent benefits package and perks

Location: Midtown NYC – hybrid onsite 3 days/week with some domestic travel required to other offices

Hours: 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm, with flexibility as needed



Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the CHRO to design and implement HR strategies and implement change management initiatives.  
  • Maintain accurate employee files in the HRIS and payroll platforms, and generate reports and analyze data to improve processes.  
  • Stay updated on changing regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable HR best practices.
  • Ensure that the Employee Handbook is up to date and assist in developing and maintaining personnel policies to ensure compliance.
  • Supervise the HR Specialists/Coordinators for daily HR operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate employee leaves of absence and the accommodations process.
  • Support payroll management and benefit plans, programs, and policies, and identify opportunities for improvement.  Help develop competitive compensation structures and benefits packages.
  • Participate in the HR department budget planning process and identifying areas for cost optimization.
  • Foster a positive culture and extensive onboarding.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Employee Resource Groups.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field required; advanced degree and Professional Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) certification from the SHRM is preferred
- 7+ years of broad-based, progressive human resources leadership experience with highly sophisticated, fast-paced, dynamic, multi-office law firm, professional services, or other highly sophisticated organizations.  
-1+ year of direct people management experience in a strategic leadership role
