Buyer

A growing manufacturing company in the Santa Clarita Valley is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods in support of production and supply chain operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong procurement background and proven success in cost savings, vendor relationships, and supply chain optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing & Supplier Management:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers through research, vetting, and performance metrics
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and contract terms
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, availability, and pricing

Procurement & Inventory Oversight:

  • Create and manage purchase orders based on production and inventory needs
  • Track orders and resolve delays or discrepancies
  • Collaborate with production and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels and avoid shortages or overages

Contract & Cost Control:

  • Negotiate supplier contracts to drive cost savings and improve operational efficiency
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through smarter purchasing and inventory practices

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with planning, production, and logistics teams
  • Coordinate deliveries and lead times with shipping partners
  • Provide timely issue resolution and continuous improvements to procurement processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally in nutraceuticals, manufacturing, or consumer packaged goods
  • Experience negotiating supplier contracts and managing vendor relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with procurement tools and ERP systems
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Supply Chain certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) a plus

Additional Experience Preferred:

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in food-grade or supplement manufacturing
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment and preventative maintenance teams

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite in a clean, well-lit facility with exposure to raw materials (including potential allergens)
  • Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (up to 33 lbs), and navigating a manufacturing floor
  • Regular exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
