Technical Designer

A fashion brand in Torrance is seeking a Technical Designer/Developer to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. Ideally seeking someone with experience in patternmaking and grading, garment construction, and sewing!


Responsibilities:
-Create tech packs with illustrations (Using Illustrator), build full initial specs, and garment construction from new development to production for Women’s, swim, activewear, kids, athleisure, and outerwear.
-Issue graded measurements and grading rules to the factory.
-Oversee all Fit, PP, and TOP samples with ownership of calendar and WIP for tracking.
-Communicate daily with overseas factories and work cross functionally with team members to ensure all sample deadlines and production deliveries are met.
-Evaluate and measure incoming samples in a timely manner and send fit comments to the vendors.
-Act as a liaison between Design, Sales, and vendors to expedite comments for approvals to align with target development due dates or production deliveries
-Maintain internal WIP and conduct weekly development calendar meetings


Skills:
-Patternmaking, garment construction with sewing knowledge, grading and grading rules is required.
-Must possess strong knowledge of garment life cycle, experience in private label and full package business is a must.
-Knowledge and familiarity in garment specs, bill of materials, and garment process (silkscreen, fabric printing, washes, etc.).
-Troubleshoot and work independently with cross functioning team members to problem solve on tech and fit issues that may occur during the life cycle.
-Ability to multitask, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
-Excellent communication and attention to details with exceptional organizational and follow up skills.
-Outstanding organizational skills and attention to details.
-Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
-Strong analytic and problem-solving skills to make decisions independently and proactively.
